Just like you and I, children (ages 2-12) and adolescents (13+) experience an unbelievable amount of change as they grow with a wide range of emotions like happiness, joy, frustration, isolation, wanting to hide away, stress, emotional meltdowns, grief, anxious, depression, and more. Children and Adolescents feel emotions more strongly than adults, and tend to emulate on the emotions of those in their environment.

Who I Help:

I help children and adolescents who want to find their “bliss” and be confident but are feeling overwhelmed and weighed down by depression, anxiety, and stress. Children and Adolescents come to us because they are dealing with:

How I Help:

In counselling sessions, I will help your child or adolescent build solid life skills and coping techniques. Together we will figure out who your child or adolescent is, who they want to be, and how to get there. By using methods like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindful Self-Compassion, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Strength Based Therapies, I will support and help them through these difficult and challenging times to build confidence, gaining insight, coping techniques, and finding their “bliss”.

Children and Adolescents often comment that they feel comfortable talking to me because I am down-to-earth, friendly, calm, and non-judgmental. They appreciate that my style of therapy is collaborative and find our therapeutic conversations beneficial in resolving issues that they are experiencing.

I know from my years in the mental health field and my own personal experience that when depression, stress, and anxiety take over your life and impacts daily living, it makes it hard to live each day. Being a child and an adolescent is tough and that’s why I am so passionate about supporting and helping children and adolescents with their own struggles so they can have a bliss-full childhood.

What To Expect:

For our first meeting with children and adolescents, I encourage parents to come to the first 20 minutes of the intake session so that we can all go over the forms and policies. This is also a good time for the parents/caregiver to express their concerns and worries in regards to their child or adolescent. Occasionally, a parent may come to a counselling sessions with their child or adolescent depending on the concern. I aim to offer time-limited and focused interventions for parents and their children.
